Use & Care of your Magnetic Signs It is very important to follow the recommendations below. CheapMagneticSigns.com will not assume responsibility for signs that fly off of your vehicle, so please be cautious. Before You Apply Magnetic Signs be sure your magnetic signs and your vehicle are clean and dry. You can use warm water and a cloth to be sure there is no dust on the back of your signs before you try to install them (even a small amount of dust can interfere with good adhesion). Lay the signs flat for a time so that they can regain their shape and will lay flat, a warm area is best. They must lay flat on the surface in order to adhere properly to your vehicle. It is best if your vehicle has been waxed not less than two months ago. If your vehicle has just recently been waxed, or is new, please allow several months for the wax (or paint) to cure to avoid damage to your vehicle. Magnetic sheeting holds best to flat surfaces and surfaces with slight curves. Rounding the corners will help with a good attachment to your vehicle (see template below). When the magnetic signs are placed in the wrong position, remove the sign and realign. Do not pull the magnetic sign to realign when it is against the surface, as the material may stretch due to resistance caused by the high magnetic strength. Make sure the entire magnet is against the metal surface (no air pockets - no lifted edges). Do not apply to newly repainted surfaces. Please be careful that your signs are good and secure on your vehicle before you drive away. CheapMagneticSigns.com is not responsible for any loss or damage that occurs due to mishandled magnetic media. We handle thousands of magnetic signs (including on our own vehicles)... if they are missing once you get to your destination, they were not installed properly. All signs are tested before the are shipped to be sure the magnetic properties are intact. Some moisture and dirt may collect behind magnetic signs. Remove and clean both the signs and the surface and allow both to dry thoroughly. Repeat cleaning process weekly when used in an outdoor environment. For extra assurance, it is highly recommended that you remove your signs daily. The magnetic sheet is more pliable and easier to work with when it is near room temperature when applied. The best way to store magnetic signs is flat. Avoid laying signs on protruding objects, and avoid rubbing the lettering against the other sign or any other object. The graphic material we use is high performance, but not indestructible. Avoid rolling the signs once you receive them (we roll them once for shipping only). It's a great idea to round the corners of your signs once you receive them. Square corners are easier to get damaged, and can also become dog-eared after a while. If you're creative you can freehand the cut or you can find an object with a nice radius, like a small kitchen glass, and trace a pattern onto the back of your sign with a pencil for a nice radius corner. Or if prefer, you can use our sample radius to print and use as a pattern. How long a set of magnetic signs can last, directly relates to how they are maintained.
